GRRATS Education Training

The Arc of Greater Boston's Guardianship Division has received a grant from the Arc of Massachusetts through the Findlay Trust to address the family resource needs surrounding the protection of their loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities with regards to their financial, residential, medical and general well being. The Arc of Greater Boston intends to develop an education and training component of the Corporate Guardianship Department whereby parents, siblings and other concerned individuals who wish to become educated on the process of advocating with and on behalf of a person with disabilities during his or her adulthood may do so. Curriculum will cover topics ranging from sibling/parental advocacy up to or including guardianship and least restrictive financial service options to the types of guardianship options available, and will be delivered in a family friendly presentation to put families at ease with the content. Personalized education and planning tailored specifically to the individual or family needs will also be offered.

Target Population: Parents and siblings or other potential caregivers of adult or transition aged persons with cognitive or developmental disabilities. Geographic communities include Boston and its 13 surrounding cities and towns, including Arlington, Belmont, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Somerville, Watertown, and Winthrop.
